Jimi always organises a huge weekend celebration for his birthday. If Mardi Gras put as much effort into organising their events as Jimi does into his, they wouldn't be in the financial trouble they are now!
He started the weekend off with Friday night cocktails at Kinsellas - a somewhat trendy establishment in Surrey Hills that in a past life was a funeral home. About a dozen of us sat around buying Jimi a potent mix of alcohol and chocolate known as a "Toblerone". I had a couple of them and they are very nice, but far too easy to knock back. Jimi had about six of them and was quite merry from the experience.
I then took Jimi back to his place and spent the night so that I could give him his very special birthday present in the morning. We had some breakfast and then an hour later went out for lunch at the Hard Rock Café. Now, I would never normally go to the Hard Rock for anything, but Jimi had a voucher for some free meals there, so we decided to use them. I've been there now so I never need to go back.
I then took Jimi to see our traditional birthday movie. Unfortunately we chose to see Madagascar. Now, lets never speak of this again.

Jimi, Chris and Rocky getting drunk.
After the movie I had a couple of hours to buy a birthday cake and have a lie down for an hour. Then it was off to his big Mexican Birthday Dinner in Newtown.
We managed to cram almost 30 people around two tables and sat around munching on semi-hot food. After dinner a small group of us went back to Jimi's place to get ready to head out to the Shift for a bit of birthday clubbing. ("Getting ready" usually involves some sort of pipe.)
Actually, I really needed a night of dancing after all I'd eaten that day. A Stack and a half of pancakes, hamburger with chips, a bucket of popcorn and a pile of Mexican food. That's more food than I normally eat in a week!
I left Jimi dancing at the Shift at about 5am. Apparently he managed to find a sweet boy to take home and do terrible things to, so his birthday weekend was, on the whole, everything he ever wanted it to be.
I spent Sunday sleeping.
As the official party season is over until the October long weekend, there was no other partying this month. I have about 3 months to give my system time to detox before I start all over again.
I have a new car. The lease is up on Greig's car so he's decided to replace one of our cars on a new lease. For some reason he decided to replace mine. We are now the proud lease-holders of a bright red (they go faster) Subaru Impreza RS.

A car not dissimilar to my mine.
The car is great. The Brant Alarm / Immobiliser that Subaru has installed is less than great. I'm still undecided as to whether or not I'm gonna get them to rip it out. The idea of having to enter a four digit pin number into a very cheap and dodgy feeling pinpad every time I start the car, and remembering never to take the seat-belt off while the engine is running is already starting to give me the shits. Subaru tell me that no cars have been stolen with this particular alarm. I'm not surprised - no fucker would want the damn thing!
Apart from that, noting much happened this month. As a result of some very dodgy accounting, we have a few grand up our sleeves that we can spend on a nice holiday. Greig and I have decided on the European Invasion II after the success of the original European Invasion. We've bought a couple of return air-fares that will see us in Europe through October. That's all we have decided about the trip so far - more news as it comes to hand.
