Well, the first thing I did this month was to catch up with Rat for dinner. We went to a traditional Vietnamese restaurant on Oxford Street where we had traditional Vietnamese chilli kangaroo. Unusual, but yummy.
Jimi and I went along and saw a stage production of "End Of The Rainbow", the tragic story of the last few months of the life of Judy Garland. With a theme like that I was expecting the audience to be full of queens, but it turned out to be full of pensioners. Maybe there was a special on. The show was actually quite good, although as a failed homosexual, I have never had the obsession with Judy that is apparently required. Caroline O'Connor played Judy and in this role she excelled. Her voice carried the Judy Garland standards impeccably.
Greig and I managed a nice BBQ lunch at the home of Peter and Robert. Naturally there was way too much food and we ended up waddling out of there. (Or was it the wine?) It was certainly a lovely way to spend an afternoon, sitting on their back veranda, sipping wine and nibbling nibblies.
May is also the month for the annual Sydney Leather Pride Inquisition Party. I must admit, I didn't go to any real effort this year, just pulling on my "leather drag" and wandering in to Faux Studios, where the party was held.
Unfortunately, all of my regular party pals seem to be away at the moment. Sam is in New York playing rugby and Jimi is in Paris playing hide-the-sausage. I went to the party on my lonesome and while I did bump into people that I knew there, I had no real "crowd" to party with.
I must say however, that it was so nice to once again party in "Dome" at Faux Studios. There hasn't been an Inquisition Party in there for years because of a perceived risk to the historic building. Last year they realised that provided they took some precautions, there was no reason that the space couldn't be used, so here we are again.
The party itself was uneventful. The crowd was friendly (as I've come to expect from these parties) and the music was pretty good. I partied until about 6am before heading home.
On the night after Inquisition was a fuck party. At Inquisition I'd promised to be there so I felt I should make the effort. It turned out to be a fun night. The crowd ranged from "good looking" through to "oooh, keep away". I just kept away from the "oooh, keep away" guys. Interestingly, the two guys that I "played with" were both guys that I'd played with at past parties. I probably should make the effort and find out who they are so we can meet up at other times.

This is just a dodgy stitched-together image from my camera phone, but it's not often you see the whole rainbow and even rarer that you see a rainbow within a rainbow.
I just thought this was pretty when I left work recently.
The only other major activity this month was decimating the main bathroom. And by that I mean Greig decimated the main bathroom. I kept a safe distance.
In a couple of months we are hosting Jimi's 30th birthday party at the Shed and we want to have the bathroom all looking nice in time for the party. This project will take several weeks. Ripping up the floor tiles, jack hammering up the screed, changing the plumbing, concreting and re-tiling. For this time we are using the second bathroom (B2). Good thing we have a spare.
