It's been a busy few months - proven by the fact that I am sitting here writing this in January 2007.
There has been much talk lately about gay "marriage". Most of the talk has of course been emotive crap, but there is certainly an issue here. Why can't Greig and I have our relationship recognized legally so as to avoid all sorts of problems in the event of something happening to one of us. Neither of us have any intention of walking up the isle of our local Catholic church dressed in a huge flowing white gown. For a start, I'm not Catholic and I don't think either of us qualifies to wear white. I may have to check that last point though.

The Order presides over Larry & Greg's Commitment Ceremony.
Larry and Greg did want to at least do something to show the world that they are committed to each other. To that end, they held a Commitment Ceremony. In the beautiful surroundings of their Surrey Hills unit, a ceremony was conducted by the Order of Perpetual Indulgence. Vows and rings were exchanged. Clover Moore's City of Sydney Relationship Declaration Register was signed. Champagne was drunk. Bubbles were blown. Everyone had a good time. The Great Dingo was well pleased.
Greig and I went along to see the new stage production of "Holding the Man". Now, the book was an emotional rollercoaster and the stage play was no different. I must admit I felt almost uncomfortable laughing out loud at the wonderfully funny moments in the first half, knowing what was to come after the break.
But laugh I did.
I paid for it of course - after intermission the play took it's sudden tragic turn and I don't think there was a dry eye in the house.
This month saw the end of an era. The last themed Ruby Party was held a fARQ Night Club. Now, a few years ago these parties were a pretty regular event. The theming of them has always been over-the-top.
While these parties are always well attended (some would say over-attended), they have never actually been a financial success for Ruby himself. As he always points out, it's about the music, not the money. Well, that's all fine and well until the money runs out.
Anyway, because it was the last proper Ruby party, I though I should make the effort to attend. After all, I was at the first one way back in . . . now when was that now?
It turned out to be a fun party. As usual, it was full of untouchable twink boys which was fine. The music of course was classic "Ruby". I actually had a good time. The best news of all was that the main room at fARQ is now No Smoking! I was in bliss! The last time I was at Ruby I left in disgust after being burnt three times by mindless twinks with cigarettes on the dance floor.
We had a few nice get-togethers this month. The quote of the month would have been "Are all of your friends on crystal?" after meeting a couple at lunch with Rose and Danny. Apparently I am a little "animated". There was also a nice evening party at Bondi with Master Dan. Drinks were consumed and then the party started becoming more friendly than anticipated. Greig and I took this as our prompt to leave.
